Run Akaroa — The Grand Hotel Marathon

Akaroa, Canterbury, New Zealand

Run Akaroa’s marathon follows sealed Summit Road around the Banks Peninsula harbour rim before descending into Akaroa. The final seven kilometres run downhill to The Grand Hotel, although the undulating ridge section needs attention first. Gravity is helpful, but rarely does the whole job. General entries are available for this running event, which has no separate walking category. Check the start transport and intermediate cut-offs, and use the course flyover to see how the route fits into the volcanic landscape.
