The Alice Springs Marathon starts and finishes at Simpsons Gap, following Darken Drive and the sealed cycle path through Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park. Desert bushland and the ranges frame an undulating out-and-back course. The marathon returned in 2025 after its previous edition in 2018, and the next festival is confirmed for 18 July 2027.
