Biography

Trent Grimsey is an Australian marathon swimmer and coach who represented Australia between 2006 and 2012. His international racing career included a world championship silver medal in 2009, five Australian open-water titles and victory in the 2012 international marathon-swimming Grand Prix series.

On Saturday 8 September 2012 he swam the English Channel from England to France in 6 hours and 55 minutes. His crew included coach Harley Connolly and support swimmer Damián Blaum for the early-morning departure.

After his international racing career, Grimsey developed coaching programmes for long-distance swimmers. He worked with more than fifty successful Channel solo swimmers between 2015 and 2021. His achievements have been recognised by both the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame and the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
