About Wolverhampton & Bilston
Wolverhampton & Bilston Athletic Club took its present form in 1967, when Wolverhampton Harriers merged with Bilston Town Athletic Club. Its predecessors had trained at several local grounds before the move to Aldersley in 1956. Aldersley Leisure Village remains the club’s headquarters.
The club enjoyed a particularly strong period in the 1970s and early 1980s, winning the men’s National League Division One from 1975 to 1982 and representing Britain in the European Clubs Cup. Its history names athletes including Tessa Sanderson, Kathy Cook, Sonia Lannaman and Rosemary Stirling. Current training and membership information is available through the club, with a waiting-list route for junior applicants when groups are full.
