Wrexham Athletic Club was founded in 1954 and is associated with the maroon vest worn by its athletes. Training centres on Queensway track, with groups for younger athletes and event-specific coaching in sprints, endurance, hurdles, jumps, throws and combined events. Some winter sessions use indoor facilities at Deeside.
The club offers two taster sessions before asking prospective athletes to join. Its own sessions start at age eight, with younger children directed to separate local programmes. A Special Olympics group provides another route into athletics. Membership, general and welfare enquiries have dedicated contacts, helping families and adult newcomers find the right coach and training group.
