About Wrecsam Tri
Wrecsam Triathlon Club began in 1995 when enthusiasts met at Gwyn Evans Sports Centre in Wrexham, North Wales, for triathlon-focused swimming led by centre manager Steve Bold. Originally called Wrexham Tri Hards, the club developed a race-organising role across the region. Its history records the first Chirk sprint race in 1998 and a Bala Olympic-distance event in 1999.
Those events helped build a wider North Wales triathlon community, with later races at Mold and Denbigh and a middle-distance event at Bala. The club remembers Steve Bold through its account of a junior inter-regional race dedicated to him in 2002. Today prospective members can enquire by email and arrange trial sessions; current training details should be checked directly rather than inferred from the club’s historical venues.
