About Spirit of Monmouth
Spirit of Monmouth Running Club was founded in summer 2008 by Mark Harrison and Sian Stroud after they approached Monmouth School Sports Club about starting a running group. Forty runners attended the first gathering, establishing a community club in Monmouth, Wales.
Tuesday and Thursday sessions mix paced group runs, coached work and social running. Winter routes use the town’s streets, while lighter evenings open up nearby trails. The club organises the Kymin Dash and Santa Fun Run, and members take part in cross-country leagues and team relays including Offa’s Dyke and the Rack Raid.
The club welcomes adults aged eighteen and over. Newcomers should complete a guest-runner form and email ahead to arrange a trial and suitable group. Monmouth School Sports Club on Hadnock Road is the usual base, with occasional changes for races or summer outings.
