Les Croupiers Running Club was formed in Cardiff, Wales, in 1981, largely by runners from Cardiff AAC. Its unusual name came from the casino owned by founding member Gordon McIlroy, who offered financial support when the club began. Road running remains central to the club, with winter cross-country competition in the Gwent League.
Thursday club night brings runners to Llandaff Rugby Club on Western Avenue, with routes of different lengths followed by a social gathering. Other weekly sessions and Sunday longer runs supplement that meeting. Prospective members can try running with the group before joining; the club does not operate a coached junior section.
Les Croupiers is also associated with organising the Welsh Castles Relay and club events including the Barry 40 and Old Father Time races. Its honours archive records team achievements and the long-running Mug of the Month award, which recognises both running milestones and service to the club. General enquiries can be made through its secure contact form.
