About Carmarthen & District Harriers

Carmarthen & District Harriers began at the Dolwar Café in Blue Street in April 1948, with Ron B Evans and Ernie Jones as its founders. Early training used Carmarthen Park. The club later helped develop the Johnstown track, where a new synthetic surface opened in 1988, and its history includes hosting Welsh championships and international meetings.

Today training takes place at Carmarthen Leisure Centre’s athletics track, with introductory run, jump and throw groups and more specialised coaching. The club accepts athletes from their ninth birthday, subject to capacity, and expects members to compete for its teams. New athletes should contact the joining team first so they can be directed to the appropriate group.
