About Cardiff Archers
Cardiff Archers Athletics was formed in 2012 and is based at the National Indoor Athletics Centre on Cardiff Metropolitan University's Cyncoed campus in Cardiff, Wales. Junior head coach Phil Warwicker has developed the programme since its formation. The club received Welsh Athletics' Junior Club of the Year award in 2024.
Young athletes usually enter through recreational groups covering running, jumping and throwing. As they develop, they may be invited into squad, specialist or development groups, where competition becomes part of the programme. The club competes in Welsh and UK youth leagues and organises friendly junior open meetings, providing a first experience of competition for younger members.
Sessions and courses are booked through the Cardiff Met Sport website or app. Families should check the class's school-year requirements, as the general pages show different introductory ages. Competitive groups require both Cardiff Archers and Welsh Athletics membership. The published contact is the junior head coach; the university's Llandaff address and general enquiry details are separate from the club's Cyncoed training base.
