About Cardiff and Vale Schools District
Cardiff and Vale Schools District is the school-athletics district for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan in Wales. Its maroon vest with a gold hoop distinguishes the district team; Welsh Athletics lists both track and field and cross-country. This is separate from Cardiff's open-membership athletics clubs.
School teams compete within the district, with district teams progressing to national school championships. Cardiff hosted the district's published 2026 qualifying meetings, including separate age-group fixtures. The programme gives a route into representative school athletics rather than a promise of public weekly coaching.
Pupils and parents should ask their school or the schools contact about current entry and selection arrangements. The directory does not establish a permanent district clubhouse. A championship venue, or Welsh Athletics' own office, should not be assumed to be a drop-in training base.
