About Bridgend Athletics
Bridgend Athletics Club grew from a team at Bridgend Technical College in the 1950s. It became Bridgend YMCA in the early 1960s and adopted the Bridgend AC name around the mid-1980s, along with the yellow vest and blue hoops still associated with the club. In 1997, its grass track was replaced by a floodlit 300m track and clubhouse.
Newbridge Fields remains the club’s home for running, jumping and throwing. Junior and senior groups cater for new athletes and experienced competitors, with members also taking part in cross-country, trail and mountain running. The club provides separate junior and senior membership contacts and welcomes people interested in coaching, officiating or helping with its activities.
