About Thirsk & Sowerby Harriers
Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers began in October 1977 when Norman Smith gathered fourteen runners at Sowerby Hall. Based around Thirsk and Sowerby in North Yorkshire, England, the club now brings together runners interested in roads, trails, fell running and cross-country.
The first Thirsk 10 was held in 1979 to raise funds for the young club. Racing remains part of its identity through its own events and participation in local leagues, including the Harrogate District Summer Race League and cross-country. The club's history also records links with the North Yorkshire Athletics Network.
Coached club sessions are advertised on Mondays and Wednesdays. New runners can use the joining information and contact the membership secretary or coaching team to discuss an appropriate group. Training details and race opportunities are shared through the club website and member calendar.
