About Thamesmead Running Club
Thamesmead Running Club was established in September 2016 and is a volunteer-led, England Athletics-affiliated club in south-east London, England. It serves adults in Thamesmead and neighbouring areas, welcoming new and experienced runners as well as walkers and triathletes who want to train with others.
The weekly programme includes easy social runs, intervals and longer weekend outings. Routes make use of the Thames Path, the Ridgeway, Lesnes Park and Bostall Woods, while some coached sessions use Sporting Club Thamesmead on Bayliss Avenue. Meeting points vary, so members book the relevant session rather than attending one fixed venue.
Seasonal beginner programmes and a follow-on group help runners build confidence and continue after their first course. The club also organises Thamesmead five- and ten-kilometre races. Newcomers can contact the membership email to arrange a one-month trial and be connected with a run leader.
