About Swansea Harriers

Swansea Harriers was founded in 1962 and is based at Swansea University Athletics Centre on Sketty Lane. Its programme introduces younger athletes to track and field while providing specialist training and competition for older age groups. Junior entry starts from school Year 5, with seniors and masters also represented.

Competition is central to the club: new athletes do not need previous experience, but are expected to train regularly and take part in suitable events. Its hall of fame includes world 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene, world 1500m medallist Hayley Tullett and Olympic discus thrower Philippa Roles. Their careers sit alongside the club’s continuing work developing athletes in Swansea.
