About Sunderland Harriers & AC

Sunderland Harriers and Athletics Club was founded in 1884 and remains part of Sunderland's sporting community in England. Track and field, road running and cross-country sit alongside one another in its programme, with opportunities for athletes in different age groups to train and compete.

The club is based at Silksworth Sports Complex. Its volunteer coaching team supports athletic development, and the published introduction welcomes young athletes from age nine. England Athletics affiliation and qualified UK Athletics coaches are stated on the club website, which also provides competition information and a calendar of club activity.

Prospective members should contact the club before attending to discuss their age, experience and preferred events. The public enquiry email offers a route into the relevant training group. The website also preserves historical photographs and club material, connecting the current programme with a long local tradition without requiring a newcomer to arrive with a competitive record.
