About Street Striders
Street Striders was formed in April 2019 in Street, Somerset, England, when two informal running groups came together. One was Martin Hooper's Monday social run; the other was a Thursday Couch to 5k group organised by members of the Street parkrun core team. Their growing popularity prompted the creation of a formal club.
Regular Monday and Thursday outings meet in the Victoria Club car park. Runs offer different distances and paces, with regrouping to keep the experience sociable and welcoming. The club's approach gives people a way to explore local routes in company rather than needing to train alone.
Prospective members can try the first few runs without paying, then decide whether to join. Emailing the club beforehand helps the organisers identify a suitable group and explain the current arrangements. The public contact page also links to official Facebook and Instagram accounts. The Victoria Club is the meeting location; it is not a separate name for the running club.
