About Stainland Lions Running Club
Stainland Lions Running Club was established in 1988, growing from a Boxing Day charity fun run. Based in the Calderdale area of West Yorkshire, England, it has kept fundraising central to club life, supporting local hospices, children's charities and search-and-rescue organisations through races and other activities.
The running programme includes road, fell and cross-country competition, with separate road-and-trail and fell championships. Training ranges from social group runs and hill work to coached sessions at Spring Hall track in Halifax. Heath Rugby Club at West Vale is an important base, with other runs starting in Stainland and around Halifax.
The club's social calendar includes awards, family events and monthly away runs, so belonging is not dependent on entering championships. Newcomers should use the contact form before attending to check the current meeting point and suitable group. Thursday's main club night is usually at Heath, but the published guidance warns of venue changes, including away evenings.
