About Stafford Harriers
The present Stafford Harriers began in April 1986, following the merger that created Cannock & Stafford AC. Initially known as Stafford St Leonard's Harriers, it made its home at the GEC social club. The club history also describes earlier Stafford running organisations, including a namesake founded in 1893, but does not present today's club as an uninterrupted continuation of that group. Stafford Harriers and Cannock & Stafford AC remain separate clubs in Staffordshire, England.
Today's programme includes juniors aged eight to sixteen, complete-beginner courses, improver groups and longer road or cross-country runs. Runners can try sessions for a couple of weeks before joining. The Brian Westhead Pavilion at Riverway is one meeting point among several: Rowley Park and locations on Cannock Chase also feature. A loop-back system and back markers help groups stay together. The club organises local races and supports Cannock Chase parkrun; its contact form is the simplest general enquiry route.
