St Bees Triers was formed by five friends on 4 October 2007 in St Bees, Cumbria, England. Its name reflected a willingness to try different activities, and a parish grant helped provide the first orange-and-black vests with their bee emblem. Running was joined by cycling and open-water swimming, while an early annual triathlon used the St Bees School pool and included family relay teams.
