About Spectrum Striders
Spectrum Striders began in 1983 among people living and working in Birchwood, on the north-eastern side of Warrington, Cheshire, England. Its name came from the Spectrum Arena sports complex, the club's original meeting place. A move to Birchwood Community High School followed in 1987.
The club's own England Athletics ClubSpark introduction describes road, cross-country, fell and multi-terrain running. Coached groups accommodate different abilities and ambitions, from keeping fit and enjoying company to preparing for competition. That broad approach has remained central to the club's published account of its development.
Prospective members can use the current membership application, which offers individual and family options and separates club membership from an England Athletics competition licence. Newcomers may request help from an experienced member while getting to know the club. Contact the membership team before a first session to establish the current group and meeting point; the historical school move should not be treated as a current training instruction.
