About Southwell Running Club
Southwell Running Club was founded in 1986 by Bill Johnson and a group of local runners following a pub meeting. Based in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England, it draws members from the town, surrounding villages, Newark and Nottingham.
Tuesday and Thursday sessions gather in the leisure-centre car park beside the Minster School's junior department; Saturday social runs use different locations. Training is designed for varied abilities, with off-road work when conditions allow. Members enter Nottinghamshire's Summer League and the North Midlands and East Midlands cross-country leagues.
The club also organises internal challenges, a Grand Prix series and family relay activity. Its history identifies Paralympian Richard Whitehead as an honorary member, a different association from ordinary competitive membership. Runners aged fourteen and over can try up to three sessions free before joining. Contact the club email or website form to check the next suitable session and its meeting point.
