About Sligo Tri Club
Sligo Triathlon Club dates its present organisation to 2008 in Sligo, Ireland. Its history reaches further back through the Metalman Triathlon Club and the All-Ireland events held at Rosses Point in the 1980s. Open-water triathlon returned to Rosses Point under the newer club in 2009.
The programme combines pool and open-water swimming, cycling and running with strength work and yoga. Members can train for fitness or competition, and introductory try-a-tri initiatives help newcomers learn the sport. The club’s event history includes races at Rosses Point, Lissadell and Hazelwood.
Junior training is offered from age nine, with bike and run skills at Cleveragh Park and swimming at the sports complex. Children must already be able to swim two 25-metre lengths confidently; these are training sessions, not swimming lessons. Contact the junior team or new-members secretary to confirm places, equipment and the required club and Triathlon Ireland memberships.
