About Slaithwaite Striders RC
Slaithwaite Striders began in 2018 when neighbours started meeting at the end of their street to run together. As the group grew, runners from across Slaithwaite joined its road and trail outings. The West Yorkshire, England, club became affiliated in 2019 and now draws members from the wider Colne Valley.
The cricket and bowling club on Racton Street is its published meeting base, with club nights on Monday and Thursday evenings. The surrounding valley gives the club access to both village roads and local trails. Its stated purpose is a supportive running community, welcoming different abilities rather than requiring a particular racing standard.
New runners can take part in three taster runs before deciding whether to become members. A committee member explains the joining arrangements, with an online application available through the official website. Use the public club email to check a suitable first session and any changes to the meeting plan. The 2018 social beginnings and 2019 affiliation are distinct milestones.
