About Skelmersdale Running Club
Skelmersdale Running Club formed in spring 2023 when local residents wanted a club centred on participation and friendship. Based around Skelmersdale and Up Holland in Lancashire, England, it affiliated to England Athletics on 31 May that year. It is a separate organisation from Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers.
The original weekly runs began at the Plough and Harrow, between Beacon Country Park and the trails around Pimbo and Up Holland. Seven runners attended the first club night. The club's daffodil emblem reflects both its spring beginnings and the Marie Curie monument encountered on the approach to Skelmersdale.
Today its published programme includes Monday intervals, Tuesday social running, Thursday club runs and Couch to 5k provision. Run-and-talk activities reinforce its social purpose. Prospective members can email or use the contact form to find a suitable first outing; the Thursday meeting is published at the Plough and Harrow on Ormskirk Road. Check arrangements before travelling.
