About Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers

Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers was formally established on 13 May 1983 in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, England. It brought together the new Skelmersdale Striders and Jogging Club, organised by Dave Goulding and Terry Jopson, with Liverpool Boundary Harriers. The earlier Liverpool club's history is therefore part of its heritage, not the founding date of the present club.

Thursday groups range from introductory run-walk sessions to longer, faster outings. Road running predominates in darker months, while summer routes explore Ashurst Beacon, Beacon Country Park and nearby trails. Other sessions include speed work and social runs starting around West Lancashire.

Community participation includes Couch to 5k courses, a monthly public walk-and-talk outing and volunteering at Tawd Valley parkrun. The club also hosts the Parbold Hill Race, Beacon cross-country and Mawdesley Trail 10k. Newcomers should contact the club for the appropriate group and meeting point, since leader availability and seasonal conditions can change the programme.
