About Silson AC
Silson AC grew from a village running group formed in Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England, in 1976. Local GP Frank Newton and fellow villagers Gerald Lovell and John Denny started it to encourage health and enjoyment through running. Registered as Silson Joggers AC in 1977, the club adopted its present name in July 2016.
Serving Silverstone, Towcester and nearby villages, Silson combines road and cross-country running with coached training. Its published winter programme uses Silverstone Circuit on Wednesday evenings; summer structured sessions move to Stowe School's athletics track. Sunday social outings mix roads and trails, with routes and meeting details arranged by members.
The club suggests that someone comfortable running five kilometres can try its training and asks visitors to email before coming along. Qualified coaches and run leaders organise ability groups. Beyond its own sessions, this not-for-profit club stages the Silverstone Grand Prix 10k, volunteers at community events and supports local good causes.
