About Royton Road Runners

Royton Road Runners was formed in 2003 by twenty-seven founder members in Royton, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Its first snowy outing in February attracted ten runners; formal affiliation followed in July. The club later marked its tenth and twentieth anniversaries by recreating that first run, maintaining a tangible connection with its beginnings.

Monday and Thursday training meets at Royton Cricket Club at 6pm for a 6.15pm departure. Volunteer-led groups cater for different abilities, with summer routes making use of Tandle Hill Country Park and darker evenings generally shifting the emphasis to roads. The cricket club provides parking, changing facilities and showers.

Membership is for adults aged eighteen and over. Prospective runners can contact the general email to discuss joining and choosing a suitable group. Check the latest training guidance before a first visit: the sociable group format does not mean every route or pace will suit every newcomer on the same evening.
