About Roadhoggs Leicester AC
Roadhoggs Leicester AC began as Hogg Robinson Roadhoggs in August 1984, after colleagues at an insurance business started running together at lunchtime. Kim Richardson chaired the new club. Membership gradually widened beyond employees; the present name followed in 1991 and burgundy colours in 1997. The club now serves runners around Leicester and Oadby, England.
Tuesday coaching meets at Victoria Park's war memorial, while winter Wednesday runs start at the Roger Bettles Sports Centre in Oadby. Summer Wednesdays often explore villages elsewhere in Leicestershire. Members can pursue road-league and cross-country competition or simply enjoy running in company, with several route lengths available.
For ordinary runs the club suggests being able to cover about four miles continuously. An improvers group helps runners build beyond five kilometres; Couch to 5K courses are no longer offered. Contact the club to discuss a trial and a suitable group. Its history also remembers long-serving athlete Mark Chamberlain, without implying a present-day membership association.
