About Reading AC
Reading Athletic Club has been part of the town’s sporting life since 1881. Its home is Palmer Park Stadium on Wokingham Road, where qualified coaches work with athletes from school Year 5 through to adult and veteran groups. Track and field sits alongside cross-country, road running and sportshall competition.
The club’s 125th-anniversary history, compiled by Brian Bacon in 2006, records athletes including Ann Packer, Kathy Cook, Beverley Callender and Gerry Stevens. That history sits alongside a continuing junior development programme and opportunities to represent the club in league competition. New members can enquire about a group suited to their age and event interests.
