About Radley Athletic Club
Radley Athletic Club was founded as Radley Ladies AC in 1972 by Eileen and Charles Kear, Jill Slatter and Vie Franks. Originally training on the cinder track at Radley College in Oxfordshire, England, it moved to the improved facilities at Tilsley Park in Abingdon in 1996. In 2002 members voted to admit male athletes and adopted the present club name.
The programme covers track and field, cross country and indoor Sportshall competition, with opportunities for different ages and abilities. Training is generally on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Tilsley Park, although times depend on the group. The club's Charles Kear Memorial Open Meeting remembers a founder who served for many years as an organiser, coach and timekeeper.
New athletes should email the membership contact to register interest and check waiting lists, particularly for younger groups. Taster sessions are offered when space is available, followed by the joining forms if the athlete wishes to continue. Do not turn up expecting an immediate place without an invitation.
