About Purbeck Runners
Purbeck Runners was founded in November 2008 after local runners recognised the need for a club on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, England. Fifty runners joined its inaugural outing. Based around Swanage, the club makes use of coastal paths and local hills as well as roads, welcoming residents and visitors who want to run with others.
Wednesday evening groups offer different paces and distances, including structured training. Sunday outings are usually longer and off road, while monthly trips take groups to other local starts. Members compete in road, trail and cross-country events, and the club helped fund and establish Durlston Country Park parkrun.
Adult newcomers can try three club runs using the guest form before joining. Regular groups expect runners to manage about four miles; people starting from scratch should ask about separate beginner courses. Published meeting details vary by group, so contact the club for the correct time and location rather than relying on a single directory address.
