About Prestwich AC
Prestwich Athletic Club began in 1986 when Rodger and Pam Davies brought their interests in running and local social life together. Based in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, England, it still combines club championships with less competitive group running. Members also take part in the Heaton Handicap, where improving on an individual's own performance matters.
Adult road groups leave from the Prestwich tram-stop bridge on Monday and Thursday evenings. Winter routes use local streets around Prestwich and Whitefield, while summer runs explore parks and trails. Fortnightly Wednesday sessions use Bury AC's track. The junior section, for ages eight to thirteen, has separate Friday athletics sessions near the cricket, tennis and bowling club.
New runners must obtain approval before attending: complete the joining enquiry form or contact the membership secretary to arrange a trial. The club's pages give differing indications of entry-level running ability, so ask which group suits you. Ordinary club routes start at roughly seven to eight kilometres rather than being a continuous beginner course.
