About Plumstead Runners
Plumstead Runners was formed in early 1987 by ten local runners meeting at the Woodman public house in Plumstead, south-east London, England. Early training centred on Winn's Common before the club moved to Bexleyheath Sports Club in Welling. That move gave the group a regular base for running and social life without losing its Plumstead identity.
The club now meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with led groups and a Wednesday beginner programme. Members take part in road races, trail outings and the Kent Fitness League. Club handicaps, the Oxleas Woods cross-country fixture and the Lesnes Abbey five-mile trail event add opportunities to race close to home.
The Lesnes Abbey event remembers founding member Ray Marshall. New runners can enquire through the club's contact form and discuss a suitable group without committing immediately. The published sports-club telephone is available for club enquiries on Wednesday evenings only, from 7pm.
