About Pensby Runners

Pensby Runners started as Pensby Roadrunners in October 1986, founded by Fred and Beryl Mottram and soon joined by Peter and Jenny Chee. Based on the Wirral in Merseyside, England, the club later shortened its name to reflect a range of running extending beyond roads.

Its early home was Fisher's Lane Community Centre; the club subsequently moved to the facilities at Heswall Squash Racquets Club. Tuesday and Thursday sessions start from its Heswall base, with a Sunday social run and opportunities for road, fell, cross-country, trail and multi-terrain competition.

The club welcomes novice and experienced runners and advertises four free weeks to try its sessions. A community programme includes outings to Hilbre Island, navigation classes, talks, book groups and social celebrations. Newcomers can use the general enquiry email or joining page to find an appropriate first session and check the current weekly programme.
