About Penny Lane Striders

Penny Lane Striders began in Liverpool, Merseyside, England, after neighbours Jack Clark and Nev Parsons started running together and others joined them. The club dates its formation to 25 July 1985, when its first black-and-white vests were distributed. Gordon Hall subsequently helped secure an early base in the university's Rumpus Room, and athletics affiliation followed that October.

Road training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in six ability groups, with off-road and cross-country activity also extending to weekends. Running remains the club's focus, alongside a wider social calendar of club relays, awards and gatherings.

Prospective members can try a couple of sessions before joining and should complete the enquiry form so they can be welcomed into the right group. The club uses its running app for training plans and announcements. Membership includes access to regular training without an additional session charge; the current membership page explains how to complete registration.
