About Pennine Fell Runners
Pennine Fell Runners began in the early 1980s to serve fell runners from several local athletics clubs. Based around the Peak District, Cheshire and south Manchester in England, it has developed a community for members and visiting runners, with local race organisation, championship teams and national relays.
Thursday social runs usually meet at the Sportsman Inn on Kinder Road in Hayfield. Groups choose routes and paces on the evening, often spending ninety minutes to two hours on hills and sometimes on rough or pathless ground around Kinder. Hut weekends, handicaps and other events add to the social programme.
These are informal outings without a designated organiser or run leader. New visitors should contact the secretary beforehand, carry the required equipment and map, and read the club's running and hill-safety guidance. A suitable group and an introductory buddy may be available, but runners remain responsible for looking after themselves. Check the calendar for changes before travelling.
