About Orpington Road Runners
Orpington Road Runners was formed in 1985 by David Cross, Gillian Else and Alan Else in Orpington, England. Its earliest runners gathered by a local pub for Tuesday evening runs. That simple weekly meeting remains central to the club, alongside a much broader racing and social programme.
Tuesday groups leave from the green near the Buff pub, with different distances and paces. Wednesday training uses Norman Park track, while the High Elms Runners On Sunday outings explore local countryside. The club's history records its men's Kent Grand Prix victory in 2018 and the women's second place that year; these are historical team achievements, not current standings.
New members can try several sessions after contacting the club and should be able to run at least 5K for ordinary groups. A separate BeginnORRs course is available through the website. Social events and member-organised outings help people find running company beyond club nights, while current session details explain venues and any separate track charges.
