About Northern Masters AC
Northern Masters Athletic Club was founded in 1968 as Northern Veterans AC. It serves masters athletes across northern England, with events held at different venues rather than a single Preston training base. Its programme covers running, jumping and throwing, as well as road, cross-country, trail and mountain disciplines.
Competition is organised in five-year age groups from thirty-five upwards. The club stages indoor and outdoor meetings and annual championships, giving members opportunities to compete against their peers and progress to national or international masters events. Social contact is an important part of these meetings, alongside serious competition.
The club's published member introductions include Olympic long-jump bronze medallist Sue Richardson and masters sprinter Steve Peters.
