About Northern Fells Running Club
Northern Fells Running Club was formed in December 2014 in Cumbria, England. Its community is spread around the northern Lake District, including the Hesket Newmarket area, rather than centred on a single track. Fell running is its main focus, although members also take part in road and other endurance events.
The club organises Carrock, Fellside and the Old Crown Round, with the latter selected for the English Fell Championships in 2022 and 2026. Wednesday evening and fortnightly Sunday social runs sit alongside club championships and winter challenges. Its membership secretary Jonathan Savage brings a background in international ultrarunning; that earlier career is distinct from his present club role.
Membership is now restricted to adults aged eighteen and over. New runners can enquire about a taster social run and check the advertised route and meeting point before joining through SiEntries. The club offers different membership options for social fell running and competition, so entrants should check the affiliation requirements of their chosen races.
