About North Shields Polytechnic Club

North Shields Polytechnic Club began as a walking club in 1903 and was reconstructed in 1908. Based in North Tyneside, England, it now spans track and field, road running, cross-country, fell running and triathlon, with junior and senior participation. It became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2018.

A 400-metre all-weather track, field-event equipment and a clubhouse with gym and changing facilities support its programme. Members compete in winter cross-country, summer track-and-field leagues and road races, with multisport activity extending to triathlon and duathlon. Volunteers underpin both training and competition.

Adults interested in joining can contact the membership team to discuss suitable groups. Junior admission is different: the official joining page currently says its waiting list is closed because demand exceeds capacity. Families should ask the club for an update rather than assuming a trial place is available.
