About North Devon AC
North Devon Athletic Club serves Braunton, Barnstaple and the wider North Devon area in England. Former president Eric Francis's history recalls David Griffiths reviving Barnstaple Athletic Club in 1979 after a period of inactivity, initially using Park School's facilities.
A campaign for a dedicated local track led to the Braunton facility's inaugural meeting in May 1991. The North Devon name reflected the intention to serve the whole area. The club now provides pathways into track and field and cross-country, with primary-school training groups leading towards more specialised event coaching.
Prospective members are invited to visit reception at the track on a training evening and meet an appropriate coach. Older athletes can try different groups before choosing a regular one. Membership includes the track pass, while non-members wishing to use the facility need a separate pass. Ask the volunteer club team about current joining and training arrangements.
