About Newport and District RC
Newport & District Running Club was founded in 1982 and marked its fortieth anniversary in 2022 with an account by founding member Ken Jones. This is Newport in Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire, England, not the Welsh city. Members come from the town and surrounding parts of Shropshire and Staffordshire. The England Athletics-affiliated club organises events including the Chetwynd Deer Park 10K, Tibberton Trot and Wheaton Aston 10K.
Wednesday club running offers five groups, from a shorter run-walk option to longer, faster routes. Leaders use loop-back points to keep each group together. Beginners are encouraged to contact the club before arriving so they can discuss a suitable course or group. The training page also describes participation in Lawley Running Club's sessions at Oakengates, which is a shared training opportunity rather than Newport's own track. The shared club email handles membership and general questions; confirm the meeting point for the chosen session.
