About Newark AC
Newark Athletic Club was established in 1946 through the enthusiasm of local grammar-school sports master F. N. C. 'Dickie' Dwyer. Its early meetings used Newark Cricket Club's ground, followed by other local venues and a cinder track at the Grove. Joining a cross-country league in 1969 helped turn it into a year-round club.
On 13 November 2018 the club held its first training session at the YMCA Activity Village in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. The present programme covers track and field, road running, cross-country and indoor sports hall athletics, with junior and senior competition opportunities.
Newcomers can arrange three free taster sessions through the dedicated taster-session email. Membership supports the two weekly training nights and the club's competition programme. The current official website is newarkathletics.co.uk; the similarly named former domain now serves an unrelated business and should not be used for athletics enquiries.
