About New Marske Harriers Club
New Marske Harriers was formally established in April 1986 after initial sessions in late 1985. Peter Boulton's effort to create local athletics opportunities in New Marske brought together volunteers and coach Tom Farrell. The club now serves the Redcar and Cleveland area of England, with a track base at Laurence Jackson School in Guisborough.
Its programme spans junior and senior track and field, road running and cross-country. The youngest Minnows sessions serve children aged eight to eleven; older juniors and seniors have separate enquiry routes. Newcomers should contact the relevant coordinator to discuss the appropriate session.
Former chairman Harry Gamble-Thompson and long-serving volunteer Yvonne helped the fundraising effort that secured the track. The club's historical account also records Olympic associations with former member Johanna Jackson and pentathlete Katy Livingston. President Tanni Grey-Thompson is an eleven-time Paralympic champion and a supporter of club events; these distinct historical and honorary connections should not be read as a current competition roster.
