About Mile Shy Club
MileShyClub was established in 2017 by Jane Dennison and has grown into a charity working across Trafford, Salford, Stockport and Manchester, England. It focuses on people who are new to exercise or unsure about joining a running group, helping them build confidence through shared activity.
Couch to 5K courses lead into sociable 5K groups, with further distance development available at selected locations. Walking groups, including accessible indoor activity at the Trafford Centre, provide other ways to take part. Wellbeing support groups and the Sale Santa Dash extend its work beyond ordinary weekly runs.
New runners complete the sign-up form before their first session and pay as they attend. Once registered, they can move between local groups to suit their schedule. Beginner intakes outside the main courses depend on coaching capacity. The website allows under-sixteens with an accompanying adult and a separate form; confirm the relevant group's arrangements rather than relying on the older adult-only directory label.
