About Mercia Fell Runners

Mercia Fell Runners is a specialist fell-running club drawing members from Shropshire and the wider West Midlands in England. Its stated purpose is to support safe, sustainable running in the hills. The club welcomes a range of abilities, from runners new to the fells to experienced competitors, and maintains a calendar of local races alongside club competition. Its published introduction describes fell running as its focus rather than a general track-and-field programme.

Coached Thursday sessions take place on the Wrekin near Telford, using different gradients and terrain to develop fitness and off-road technique. Summer work includes descending skills; appropriate footwear, clothing and a headtorch in the darker months are part of the club's guidance. Newcomers are asked to contact the coach before attending. Membership and coaching role emails are published separately. Other informal Shropshire social runs are explicitly distinguished from official club training, so a social-media meeting should not be assumed to be a coached Mercia session.
