About Manchester Triathlon Club
Manchester Triathlon Club began in 1988 after cyclist and firefighter John Moore called a meeting at the Olde Cock Inn in Didsbury. The growing club later met at Hough End before moving to Longford Park. Its history traces early runs around Sale Water Park, the development of pool coaching and the arrival of open-water sessions at Salford Quays.
The volunteer-run club now offers swimming, cycling and running for different levels of experience, together with a junior section. It organises Boundary Breeze, a sprint triathlon, and a series of aquathlons. Manchester Triathlon Club was named Triathlon England’s North West Club of the Year in 2023; social events and member volunteering remain part of its programme alongside racing.
