About Long Eaton Running Club

Long Eaton Running Club was formally affiliated in October 1986 in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, England. Its roots were a small group training together after local half marathons, including Martin Goodall, Don Pitman and first secretary Dave Munt. That modern club is distinct from the town's nineteenth-century Long Eaton Harriers.

West Park remains its base for Tuesday and Thursday group runs. Members take part in road races, cross-country, trail and fell events, while Couch to 5K activity offers a route into running. The Risley Trail and Nomad Ultra, club competitions and social events add variety to the annual programme.

The club offers a four-week trial; contact the membership team to arrange an introduction and check the meeting point near the rugby club. Its history records successful racing teams and charitable fundraising alongside ordinary runners' personal milestones. Former standout performers include Neil Renault, who joined in 2005, and Sarah Harris, whose 2011 marathon performances led to an England selection.
