About Lingfield RC
Lingfield Running Club grew from friends running together in 1983 in Lingfield, Surrey, England. England Athletics' 2024 account distinguishes those beginnings from a formal club launch in 1985. Earlier attempts to establish local athletics in the nineteenth century belong to the village's sporting history, not to an uninterrupted history of today's club.
The Victoria Sports and Social Club on the High Street is its home base. Members run on local roads and countryside routes, with improvement sessions, handicap events and cross-country teams adding competitive options. The Lingfield 10s also supports charitable fundraising, while regular newsletters keep members informed.
The club welcomes adults over eighteen and encourages prospective members to try regular runs before joining. Its membership secretary can explain suitable sessions and current meeting arrangements. Community support is a recurring theme: a 2024 first-person account from then-chair Scott McDonald described mental-wellbeing work and fundraising for Papyrus alongside the running programme.
